Trade Coins
The St. Andrews Chamber has minted the St. Andrews Trade Coins since 1976. Celebrating the establishment and development of the historically significant town of St. Andrews, these coins are the longest consecutive annual publication of its kind in Canada.
Once utilized as actual trade currency in town, the coins are now a popular collectors item. The Chamber itself holds a full collection of Trade Coins and there is also one housed at the Bank of Canada Museum in Ottawa.
You can purchase the current 2026 Bi-metal coins for $6.00 each by contacting the Chamber or visiting any of our member businesses listed below:

2026 Niger Reef Tea House Bi-Metal Trade Coin - $6.00 each
1926, long-time summer resident and noted author, Mrs. Florence Ayscough, commissioned the Tea House for the Passamaquoddy Chapter of the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire (IODE). It served as a summer tea room and social hub, with proceeds funding scholarships, bursaries, and charitable works and it quickly became a favourite gathering place for locals and visitors.
2025 Delilah The Whale Bi-Metal Trade Coin - $6.00 each
The North Atlantic right whale is an endangered species with a global population of about 350 individuals. These majestic animals, including Delilah, visit the Bay of Fundy seasonally to feed. She was first observed in the Bay of Fundy in 1982 and again in 1985, 1989 and 1992. Sadly, she washed ashore on Grand Manan, NB on September 9, 1992 at the young age of at least 11 years old and measuring an impressive 13.6 m/45 feet long.
2024 Ross Memorial Museum Bi-Metal Trade Coin - $5.00 each
"Chestnut Hall'" home of The Ross Memorial Museum today, was built by the Honourable Harris Hatch (1780-1856) for his family of 11 children. Hatch was a loyalist (likely from Boston Massachusetts) who came with his parents to St Andrews in 1783 when he was 3 years old. After studying law in Nova Scotia, he worked for the law office of Ward Chipham in Saint John before returning to St Andrews in 1810.
